Ironman World Champion, Chris “Macca” McCormack to Race Vineman Ironman 70.3 on July 18, 2010
3/10/2010
Ironman World Champion Chris McCormack will join the ranks of many other pros that have raced the Vineman Ironman 70.3. The Vineman family is very excited to have Chris race this summer and become part of it’s storied history. This will be McCormack’s first time to Sonoma County and he had this to say about the race:

I am always looking for races that I am keen to do but have never had the opportunity to do. Over the past 6 years I have had Ironman commitments in Europe in July so the Vineman race has always clashed with this. When the opportunity presented itself this year, I jumped at it. As a single event it is one of the only races I have not competed in that has some history to it. I have only heard great things about the event and am looking forward to racing my first Vineman this year.

2010 marks the 20th anniversary of Vineman Ironman 70.3 (formerly known as the Half Vineman) and if the pro start list looks anything like years past then this will surely be a race not to be missed. Vineman has hosted the likes of 2 time Ford Ironman World Champion, Craig Alexander as well as a who’s who of pro men including, Terenzo Bozzone, Joe Gambles(who set a course record in 2009), Dave Scott, Steve Larsen, Chris Lieto, Chris Legh, Luke Bell, Simon Lessing, Tim DeBoom, Peter Reid, TJ Tollakson, Michael Lovato, Reinaldo Colucci and Eduardo Sturla.

Additionally, Chris is also scheduled to be part of the Friday evening “Athlete Welcome Reception” that kicks off the race weekend. The reception, more laid back than a press conference, resembles a living room chat and will include a handful of the pro men and women scheduled to race.
